FOCUS AND SHARPNESS
One of the most important property of a picture is sharpness. The eye would be immediately leaded to the sharp part of the picture. It is essential that the subject of the photo is sharp. What the subject is, you decide as a photographer.
Almost all digital cameras have an automatic focus (AF). A camera with autofocus works when the shutter is half-pressed. Usually, the focus part of the scene would be indicated by one (or more) colored rectangles.
If you use autofocus, you need to do care about how the camera focuses on your subject. Is it the same what you want too? Take the photo!
What should you do, if you camera will not focus on your subject? This can happen if your subject is not in the middle of the picture. Focus first on the subject. Hold the shutter button half-pressed, change the position of the camera to make the composition, and then take the picture.
Some products, such as Canon, use the "AiAF" principle. This means that the focus can be on any available location within the photo. The camera decides which part of the picture will be sharp.
This feature is very useful, but you must stay alert! The camera does not know, how YOU want the photo look like. If you do find this setting too difficult, turn it off. In that case, the camera focuses always on the centre of the view.
