LIGHT SKIN COLOUR
To photograph a person on a darker background on a clear day (full sunlight) can be problematic. The
matrix metering (default auto mode) works in similar cases usually not correct: the area of the skin is less than the background, making it less weighted and it will be overexposed. Always check the first images of a set! If needed, use the
histogram a>.
Center-weighted metering is usually more accurate than multi-pattern or matrix metering. The result is an average hue that you will have to assess in relation to the skin of your model and if it is necessary, apply some
exposure compensation.
If it is possible, take no photos of people who are in full sun. On a little cloudy day you can sometimes wait until a cloud floats over and causes soft light.
In addition to the proper brightness is the skin colour also important. If necessary, adjust the
white balance!
