GEOMETRIC ELEMENTS

Geometric elements can give a photo more dynamic. Examples of geometric elements are lines (roads or paths, a river, a bridge) and shapes (circles, squares and triangles).

Diagonal lines make the picture very dynamic. The eye of the viewer follows these lines and he or she would be transferred unnoticed into the image. A winding S-line is a composition of several diagonal lines. Roads, rivers, narrow trails are excellent examples of S-lines. Choose an angle, where this effect comes to its right!

Repetition of the same geometric lines or form is a rhythm. The picture would be dynamic, but simple and easy. The chosen angle (perspective) has a large influence on the final composition.
For example, if you photograph a lane with trees, each tree will seem shorter than its predecessor, although the size is the same. Depth would be suggested in this way.

Symmetry is practical and safe, something which meets the expectations of the viewer. A deliberately distorted symmetry could give more dynamic to a view, but not all cases suffer to the expected effect. If there is sufficient time, try to experience with your position to find the best angle for shooting.
