NIGHT SCENES

Photographing in the dark is much more advanced than in de evening. Not all cameras are suitable for "real" night scenes, that is the complete dark, because a longer shutter speed (time required for making the picture) of several seconds is needed.

All the basic principles, as defined in evening scene, are also applicable: tripod, self timer, no flash and a low ISO value.
In the darker, or at night, you need to set the shutter speed manually. Consult the manual of your camera!

Find well-lit subjects, preferably with light color, such as buildings, streets, etc..

To determine the proper shutter speed you need to take some time to experiment - you do not need to hurry, because it isn`t getting darker. Check the image after each recording: is the subject correctly exposed (small bright lights cause problems frequently.) If you are satisfied with the result, take two additional photos with one stop shorter and longer shutter speed.
